MAC Summer Camp classes combine the best of both worlds - a rigorous studio practice with a dedication to having fun. In each class campers learn new art making skills while creating multiple artworks to be taken home at the end of the week - but not before mounting a mini exhibit of their work for friends and family to enjoy on the last day of camp! Each camp is suitable for children ages 6-12, with some exceptions possible. Each camp includes materials, snack, and water. Campers bring their lunch :)
DATES: Weekly camp options running between May 30th - August 11th
HOURS: 9am - 3pm
COST: 5 Day - $225, 4 Day - $180, 3 Day - $160, & $250 for Claymation

Summer Camps 2017
In this class mini artists will explore the art of sculpture by creating large scale paper-mache masks. We will use a variety of materials like cardboard, paint, textiles, and collage scraps to make larger than life personalities!
Mini Artists will make their own salt dough (it's like a modeling clay) and create works of art they can use around the house! Project will include candle holders with handmade bees wax candles, their very own 3D animation shadow box, picture frame, bookmarks, and oh so much more.
Each day of this camp will be dedicated to learning about a different female artist from Art History! Students will create their own masterpieces inspired by the works of artists such as Frida Kahlo, Joan Mitchell, Louise Burgoise, Alma Thomas, Lee Krasner.
Mini artists will focus on making wearable art all week through the art of printmaking. We will be creating designs and printing on t-shirts, pants, handmade tote bags, and hats.
*Artists can bring clothes from home to print on, but MAC will provide options as well.
Self expression is important, even for the mini-artists! At this camp we will explore the different dimensions of our personalities and create self portraits in the second, third, AND fourth dimensions! Students will paint a nontraditional self portrait that not only focuses on resembling the way we look, but reflects our personalities too. Students will also create a three dimensional sculpture of themselves, and we will collaboratively make a cool video piece that explores human emotions.
In this camp we will be focusing on all things mini! Fairy houses, tea sets for gnomes, tiny felt dolls, miniature living rooms. Using clay & recycled materials like cardboard, popsicle sticks, twigs etc. mini artist will create their own tiny worlds.
Come create unique, earth-friendly artwork while learning all about nature! Inspired by artists like Andy Goldsworthy and Katie Scott, Mini Artists will make land art, paint using vegetable ink, create their very own recycled paper, and complete projects inspired by the plants and animals of New Orleans.
Play with pop art concepts by making 3D clay or plaster sculptures of our favorite food, and learning to give our own unique spin to images & brands that we love.
Only 3 Spots Left!
This rigorous (but mostly FUN!) summer camp class will introduce students to the super cool art of Claymation, a stop-motion animation technique famously used in such films as Wallace and Grommit, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and Fantastic Mr. Fox.
*NOTE* This class is geared towards older ages as it involves a lot of group work and many complex parts along with working on the computer. Registration is only for ages 6 and up for this class. No exceptions :)
The cost for this class is higher as it requires 2 full day teaching artist and post production time.
