MAC Summer Camp classes combine the best of both worlds - a rigorous studio practice with a dedication to having fun. In each class campers learn new art making skills while creating multiple artworks to be taken home at the end of the week - but not before mounting a mini exhibit of their work for friends and family to enjoy on the last day of camp! Each camp is suitable for children ages 6-12, with some exceptions possible. Each camp includes materials, snack, and water. Campers bring their lunch :)
DATES: All camps run in June - August, see exact weeks below.
HOURS: 9am - 3pm
*MAC Members who purchased membership this year will still receive a 20% discount on all classes. It can be applied to online purchases with a promo code at checkout (contact us if you don't have it). We however will not be renewing or taking any new memberships at this time.*
Pre-registration is required, families can register for camps online or during Open Studio hours at MAC. Registration for each week closes the Sunday before the 1st day of camp at 5pm - this includes holiday weekends.
At MAC we try to be as flexible as possible as we know families are busy. If you need to cancel your registration MAC needs a minimum of 48hrs notice to refund all but 20% for a processing fee or switch registration fees to another class. Any registration changes can be sent to email@example.com.
Summer Camps 2018
Each day of this camp begins with a morning sight-seeing walk in Algiers Point! Students will learn how to sketch en plein air, and will collect nature and other found items to incorporate into larger art pieces we will work on during the afternoons in the studio. We will inspire our artworks with everything from classic New Orleans houses, cityscapes across the levee, our favorite parks, and more!
This camp is a week-long condensed version of our former Independent Studio after school program. It is designed for mini artists who want to explore *their own* self-defined art style. In this camp, students will learn about classic rule breaking artists from Art History to inspire them to create outside the box. With all the tools in the MAC studio to make 2D, 3D, and 4D artwork, plus the guidance of a Teaching Artist, students will get to build their own cohesive portfolio that speaks to movements throughout Art History!
3 SPOTS LEFT!
This camp is all about animation! Never done it but wan't to learn more? Know all about it, love it, want more of it? This camp is for you! Students will work in small groups to create their own mini series with original and personalized characters, plot twists, commercials, and more!
