MAC’s goal is to be a place where every artist feels welcome. Inspiring the kid in all of us.
Mini Art Center is founded on the idea that art can bring neighbors together. Inspired by the WPA community art centers, MAC’s accessible programs focus on the visual arts for all ages.
Mini Art Center is a low profit L3C fiscally-sponsored organization. We started as a pop-up at Propeller in the Broadmoor neighborhood. Holding Open Studio hours for children and their families once a month. As our audience grew, we set out to open our own space and found the perfect home in Algiers Point. Through Kickstarter and our amazing backers we were able to crowdfund what we needed to renovate and open our doors to the NOLA community in May of 2015. Since then we have been offering a variety of visual arts programs and are constantly popping up at great events around the city.
We had an incredible two and half years in the neighborhood and a blast making art with all our special mini artists. Every camp, class, studio visit and secret art mail has been a true joy in our lives and we cannot thank you enough for all of the love and support MAC has received since opening.
Our goal moving forward will continue a 'mini version' of programing through our ongoing pop-up at Congregation Coffee in Algiers Point studio and to transition MAC into a mobile pop up studio within the next year. Mobile MAC will utilize vacant lots all over the city to host family friendly programming and continue its mission of bringing neighbors together through art making.
